The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, will be sworn in on Monday by 18 judges of the Court of Appeal.

Muhammad’s spokesman Ahuraka Isah said in a statement that the inauguration would take place in the “main courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria” in Abuja.

PREMIUM TIME indicated that the inauguration was to take place in April but was to be postponed due to the national strike by members of the Nigerian Judicial Staff Union (JUSUN).

The strike launched by justice workers to demand the financial autonomy of justice began on April 6 and continued for more than two months by Nigerian courts and relevant institutions.

President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of judges after their recommendation by the National Judicial Council (CNJ).
