The Lagos State Region Unit of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) described the deliberate framework of the Christian Religion Study (CRS) of the State Ministry of Education Lagos in the general exam questions for state students as a misnomer.
The Emir (Chairman) of MSSLagos, Miftaudeen Thanni, said during the last Common Entrance Examinations that Muslim students were disadvantaged by being mandated to answer some CRS questions.
According to the student leader, the inclusion of the IRS in the examination questions will have been an alternative and will have prevented injustice towards Muslim students.
“The deliberate act of only putting the CRS in the general document is a misnomer, knowing full well that Muslim students will also take part in the exam. Nigeria is a multi-religious society and not a mono-religious state” , did he declare.
It should be recalled that Muslim female students recently won the Hijab case where the Supreme Court allowed the use of hijab as part of uniform for consenting Muslim female students in public schools in Lagos State.
Thanni therefore urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to issue an official statement on the implementation of the court’s rules to avoid further discrimination and victimization of Muslim hijab-wearing students by the authority when schools resume the following day. next week.
