Moradabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi said on Friday that Muhammad Ali Jinnah and congressional leaders were responsible for partitioning India.
Addressing an event in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi denounced the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that people associated with the Sangh and the Saffron Party do not read correctly and blame the Muslims for the partition.
âThe partition did not take place because of the Muslims but because of Jinnah. At that time, only influential Muslims like nawabs or graduates were allowed to vote. Congress and its leaders at that time were responsible for the partition of India, âsaid Owaisi.
Notably, the head of AIMIM made the comments days after Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav equated Jinnah with Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru.
Owaisi criticized the government of Uttar Pradesh led by Yogi Adityanath for the death of a man who allegedly committed suicide at the Kasganj police station. The head of AIMIM alleged that it was a murder and not a suicide.
On November 9, a man identified as Altaf attempted to kill himself at the police station using the string from his stocking, police said. Altaf was taken to the police station for questioning after someone from Kasganj filed a complaint about his missing daughter and named Altaf in his complaint.
âDuring the interrogation, he asked to go to the toilet and was sent to a closed toilet. There he tried to strangle himself with string inside his hoodie. ‘took them to hospital in a state of unconsciousness, “Kasganj MP Botre Rohan Pramod said. . He claimed the man died during treatment at the hospital.
