The Bauchi State branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the institutions that State Governor Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, who is the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 general election, has dumped his deputy, Sen Baba Tela for the second term.
The PDP explained that the decision to have another gubernatorial running mate for the 2023 elections was a collective decision of the Northern Zone party stakeholders who must produce the gubernatorial running mate for the candidate.
While reacting to the development following media reports, PDP Publicity Secretary Yayanuwa Zainabari stressed on Tuesday that Governor Mohammed did not dump Baba Tela and chose Auwal Jatau as his running mate.
Yayanuwa Zainabari explained that contrary to the report, the governor and his deputy are working together in harmony to ensure the party’s success in the 2023 general election.
According to him, the party’s deputy gubernatorial candidate, Auwal Jatau, was quoted out of context, pointing out that there was nowhere in his statement that he said the governor dumped his deputy for him in saying that the report was a figment of the journalists’ imagination. and the misdeeds of political actors.
Yayanuwa Zainabari further said that instead of the political actors in the state fanning the embers of discord between the two, they should instead channel their energy into supporting the current administration to continue the good work going on in the areas of infrastructure development, empowerment and unity among diverse interests in the state.
The PDP spokesperson said that the issue of the change of Deputy Governor in the 2023 elections was a decision made by the Governor and stakeholders of the Bauchi North Senatorial District, adding that the outgoing Deputy Governor appreciates the relationship. cordial relationship existing between him and the governor.
“So heating up the diet was unnecessary and unwarranted. People are trying to create confusion where there shouldn’t be any.”
