The government team of the PTI is mainly criticized for its failures, but the fact is that there are some members who are doing well in their respective sectors. Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari is one of them.

The Prime Minister has entrusted him with the responsibility of Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and HRDs and he has risen to the task with results which are not only appreciated by his colleagues but also by the opposition parties. The Standing Senate Committee on Overseas Pakistanis praised Zulfi Bukhari’s services.

Achievements include the release of Pakistani prisoners abroad, reforms in the Overseas Protector’s offices, the abolition of the NICOP requirement for outgoing work, the Qatari visa facilitation centers in Islamabad and Karachi , the opening of visas for Pakistanis for Kuwait, the launch of the call portal Naya Pakistan, increase of the pension for persons registered with EOBI, restoration of British Airways to Pakistan.

Not only that, but another feather that Zulfi put in his cap most recently was to win his libel case against Reham Khan. It is not only the victory of Zulfi but also that of Imran Khan because the affair concerned his book. Reham made personal allegations about the Prime Minister in his book.

His defeat in a UK court proves the other claims could also be wrong. It is the victory of PTI’s narrative against corruption and other evils that Imran Khan dreams of controlling for the nation’s development and prosperity around the world.

People wonder what the problem is with the Prime Minister replacing people like this who bring him success stories.

In September 2019, the Prime Minister delivered a speech at the UNGA which was greeted not only throughout Pakistan, but also in the United States and other capitals around the world.

The PM declared his visit a great success but at the same time replaced Maleeha Lodhi who was in charge of all the arrangements to make the visit a success.

Now another change is in sight, when Pakistanis overseas feel much better than previous governments and Pakistan benefits from overseas tourism and investment policies.

The release of Pakistani prisoners was undoubtedly a great service to compatriots during the very first year of the PTI government.

So far, more than 6,880 prisoners have been released mainly from prisons in Middle Eastern countries. The prisoners are mostly working class workers who have not been able to defend their cause.

Pakistani workforce needs a protector before they can travel abroad to work. The offices of the Protector exploited them. Zulfi took note and made reforms here. He sacked 9 senior officials who were unwilling to cooperate to facilitate work at home and abroad as instructed by the prime minister.

It has established a one-stop shop for the convenience of work. Reforms in Pakistan’s Overseas Circle have created 1.3 million new overseas jobs for Pakistanis.

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation generated a profit of Rs 111 million after 4 years of losses due to austerity and efficiency measures. It is a central organization concerning the welfare of foreigners. Zulfi prepared it in accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision for abroad.

Now OPF is ready to receive complaints, online queries and all government departments are required to respond to OPF recommendations in favor of overseas.

The Prime Minister advocates investments in the country and for that the ease of doing business is his slogan and his policy. Zulfi has played a key role in convincing foreign and foreign investors to seize this opportunity.

Zulfi spared no effort to achieve this target. The promotion of tourism is the dream of the Prime Minister. As chairman of the National Tourism Coordination Council, Zulfi started with domestic tourism and overseas Pakistanis took time to explore their homeland.

British Airways has resumed direct flights to and from Pakistan thanks to the efforts of Zulfi Bukhari. Flights were halted after the bombing of the Marriott hotel in Islamabad in September 2008.

The Prime Minister must review his decisions and his priorities. Its flagship project 5 million homes is blocked at 1,500 homes only. Most of the initiatives announced by the WP are on hold.

The PM knows that he already lacks sincere and competent members of his team. Zulfi’s replacement will add further to the chaos already present. Let it work with its line and length.
